Lake Macquarie City Council has nearly completed expansion of the Awaba Waste Management Facility to extend its lifespan by an estimated 20 years. The expansion involves constructing two additional excavated landfill cells, wastewater pipeline, new weighbridge, recycling centre, amenities building, and waste transfer station. It also includes a state-of-the-art organics processing facility operated by REMONDIS to convert 44,000 tonnes per year of food and garden organic waste into compost and soil amendment products. The facility comprises a unique hybrid model of ‘in-vessel’ and ‘mobile aerated floor’ systems, cashless weighbridge, and a purpose-built education centre.
The ANL Tea Gardens Horticultural Products Production Facility has become integral to our provision of long term organics management solutions for the NSW central and mid north coast. To date, in excess of $5 million has been invested in site development, and infrastructure and equipment upgrades.
