Biography

Joyanne Manning has worked on waste related projects for over 20 years. Joyanne leads the Resource and Waste Business for Arup in Australasia. Moving to Australia five years ago, Joyanne started her career in 1995 by undertaking a study of the Irish national waste arisings as part of her masters research which formed the basis of the first Irish National Waste Database. Since then, she has worked in Ireland, UK and now Australia pursuing her passion for working with the waste industry to look at ways of managing our waste in a more sustainable, effective and progressive way and actually moving the paradigm away from waste to thinking of everything as a resource. Joyanne is recognised by industry for her in-depth knowledge of the waste industry and in particular is regarded by her peers as an expert in the creation and development of advanced waste treatment projects. Joyanne is currently chairing the Planning Committee for the first National Energy from Waste Conference to be held in Sydney in October 2016 and is Vice President of the WMAAs Queensland Branch. Most recently she spoke at the UK Energy from Waste Conference on the potential for the Energy from Waste Market in Australia.
